Why colouring books are good for anxiety.

One of the favourite memories I have of my childhood was when I received a colouring book and a bunch of colour pencils from an adult to keep me busy. Perhaps it was one of the cheapest options to make me happy. Nowadays I would never reject an invitation to colouring a book with a child, because putting some colour in a drawing gives a sensation of satisfaction, calm, and instant joy.

The creation of these kinds of books for adults as well as children should be essential for artists, and I think this is because colouring improves our mental health in many ways without requiring special skills.

According to a group of psychology researchers at the University of Otago in New Zeeland, using colouring books as a therapeutic tool, adults can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Colouring books are a cheap and effective way of mindfulness and meditation as well, even though we spend 10 minutes per day, the benefits of this activity can be visible from the first session.

I consider that art is a healing tool that must be available to anybody, so I have created this colouring book with some of my drawings that I am sure would look great if you add some colours.
